  • few cashews, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and bay leaf
  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 cup coconut milk, 1 cup water
  • 1 sliced onion
  • 3 green chillies slit
  • 1 tsp garlic ginger paste
  • few curry leaves and mint leaves,


  1. Soak 1 cup basmati rice for 20 minutes
  2. In a deep pan,heat 1 tbsp ghee
  3. Add cashews..fry for a minute till they are golden..then add garam masala
  4. Add chillies,curry leaves, mint leaves ..fry for a minute
  5. Add onion, salt and fry till onion turns golden
  6. Add garlic-ginger paste and fry for a minute
  7. Drain the soaked rice and add..fry for 2 minutes
  8. Add 1 cup coconut milk and 1 cup water..cook covered on low flame for 10 minutes..ghee rice ready

Additional Info

Ghee rice is a quick meal which does not need vegetables and takes less time. You can have onion raitha or any kurma as side dish. Or eat it plain with papad
