Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cook Time: 15 mins
Yields: 1 cup of powder


  • Curry leaves - 1 cup tightly packed
  • Black pepper - 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
  • Toor dal - 2 tsp
  • Channa dal - 2 tsp
  • Urad dal - 2 tsp
  • Red chillies - 3- 4 (adjust as per need)
  • Salt as required


  1. Wash the curry leaves, pat it with a towel to remove excess water and spread it on a cloth and dry it well in the shade.There should not be any moisture in the curry leaves.
  2. Dry roast toor dal, urad dal and channa dal until it turns golden brown.
  3. Then dry roast pepper and cumin seeds separately until you get a nice aroma.
  4. Dry roast red chillies for few minutes.
  5. Grind the roasted dal, Pepper,Cumin and red chillies first.
  6. Then add Curry leaves and grind everything without adding water , to the coarse powder with required salt.
  7. Store it in a air tight container.
